NASCAR at Watkins Glen Weekend Schedule, Start Time, Practice, Qualifying, Fantasy Picks, TV Info and Weather

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series returns to the road course of Watkins Glen this week for the second event that requires drivers to make both left and right hand turns.

Both the Cup Series and Nationwide Series will be in action. On Saturday the Nationwide Series will run the Zippo 200 at the Glen while the Cup cars hit the track on Sunday for the Cheez-It 355.

NASCAR has been running races at Watkins Glen since 1986. The 11 turn track varies from 6 to 10 degrees with a frontstretch that meassures 2,141 feet.

Watkins Glen Fantasy Picks

Those playing in Fantasy NASCAR leagues are going to find it impossible not to pick Marcos Ambrose. The Australian driver has two career wins at this track. Another strong option will be Kyle Busch who won last year (2 carer wins) and has a history of strong showings here.

Jeff Gordon has four wins here and remains one of the better road course options while those who go with five-time winner Tony Stewart will be blocking off his season long struggles.

Kyle Busch won this race last year. Marcos Ambrose won the previous two races.

Nationwide Series Race Info

Brad Keselowski won last years Nationwide Series race at Watkins Glen.

Weather

There is not a chance of rain in sight according to weather reports. Friday will see temperatures top out in the upper 70s with a high of 78. On Saturday fans will see weather in the mid-80s before a high of 86 on Sunday for the Cup race.
