Jennifer Jo Cobb shared the following to her Facebook page in response to some of the news surrounding two fans stepping up to purchase tires for her at Talladega.

Brett reports that I’m “funding my own dream” which often leads to the misconception that I came from money or that somehow I have money. Guys – I had a negative personal bank account more than a positive one through my 20’s (who am I kidding – maybe even in my 30’s!). My parents didn’t have a lot of money – but they gave me what they could – including a whole lot of kick in the butt and good advice about not giving up, using my education, want in one hand and 💩 in the other (gosh I swear that was my Mom’s favorite saying!).
So when I wanted to race in the big leagues way back when I was a student I got educated (I studied business, marketing, sales, journalism). I read books. I made phone calls. I knocked on doors. I went to endless networking events and sold my racing career to anyone who would listen.
JJCR will be a full-time team at the top levels of NASCAR for 10-years in 2020! Yet still, I have employees who make more money than I do to this day. BUT – I am literally living my dream through the good days and the bad days and I am so grateful and so determined to not only keep going, but to keep improving. It’s never too late to be who you were meant to be (paraphrased, George Eliot).
I am here, blessed to be racing at the top levels of NASCAR because there have been hundreds of people like these two awesome guys from Talladega who have helped me through the years. THAT is how this team survives.
I’m still trying to figure it out… but know this…
Your dream doesn’t have to be lined up perfectly… do your best. Cover the bases of safety and taking care of your people – and GO FOR IT!
