Riley Herbst scored the second win in a row for Stewart-Haas Racing notching the victory in the Xfinity Series’ return to the oval at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Cole Custer began the day on the pole but the race would not make it one lap before caution flew as Sam Mayer made contact with AJ Allmendinger resulting in multiple cars taking on damage.
Herbst would win the first stage but following pitstops Brandon Jones would find his way out front. Ryan Sieg would win the second stage after choosing to stay out on old tires while others pitted.
Aric Almirola would assume the lead after Sieg pitted by himself following the stage break but after falling back on the restart would go around to bring out a caution. Parker Retzlaff would later run into the back of Anthony Alfredo ending the day of both and Josh Williams.
Custer would lead much of the closing laps but Herbst was able to get around him only for Almirola to pass both. A lap later Herbst would get back around Almirola to score the win.
