Corey LaJoie and Spire Motorsports will part ways at the end of the 2024 season.
“I won’t be driving the 7 car next year,” LaJoie told The Athletic, which first reported the news. “I take a lot of satisfaction from having an integral part of building Spire into a respectable team on the grid, but unfortunately, the future won’t involve me. We will finish the remainder of 2024 strong, continuing to deliver for my partners, my guys who work hard to build good cars, family, fans and friends who have supported me since Day 1 in the Cup Series.
“This chapter ends after Phoenix, and I’m excited to see what the Lord has in store for my family next.”
Spire Motorsports recently added Rodney Childers as a crew chief for next season raising the hope that LaJoie and him would be patterned.
LaJoie has spent four seasons at Spire where he has only had any degree of success on superspeedways.
The 32-year-old driver has been a fixture in the NASCAR garage with stints at BK Racing, TriStar Motorsports and GoFas Racing prior to landing at Spire.
LaJoie is currently 28th in points and unless he scores an improbable win will again miss NASCAR’s playoffs.
Spire Motorsports will expand to three entries next season. Previously Michael McDowell was announced as the driver of one entry. He will be paired with Carson Hocevar. The team will announce a third driver at a later date.
