Bubba Wallace competing in truck race at Martinsville

The first African American driver to win a NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series race will return to the series for Saturday’s 250-lapper on the paper clip.

AM Racing confirmed Wednesday that Darrell “Bubba” Wallace, Jr. will drive the No. 22 Chevrolet Silverado in Saturday’s Martinsville 250.

Wallace has six NGOTS victories to his credit, two of which came at Martinsville. Wallace sits 30th in Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series standings after the five races this season.

Austin Wayne Self had driven the No. 22 entry since the 2016 season. Self finished 9th at Daytona, 27th at Atlanta and 15th at Las Vegas. He sits 12th in standings.
