Rain cancels Cup race at Indy, Doubleheader set for Monday

Both the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and Xfinity Series will be in action on Monday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway after rain forced the cancellation of both weekend events.

Rain began on Saturday and never stopped. The MENCS teams never even got to practice, much less qualify prior to Sunday’s scheduled race. Saturday’s Xfinity Series event was canceled and pushed to Monday at 10 am ET.

After rain continued into Sunday, NASCAR moved the Cup race to Monday at 2 pm ET setting up a doubleheader on Monday.

While rain at Indy was unfortunately, fans did hear from Tony Stewart that a Indy 500 run in 2020 was still something he was considering.
