Denny Hamlin wins Darlington pole, qualifying resutls for Southern 500

NASCAR throwback weekend at Darlington Raceway is in full swing. During qualifying Denny Hamlin was the fastest earning himself the pole for Sunday’s Bojangles’ Southern 500.

Hamlin won this event a year ago. The race consists of 367 laps around the 1.366 mile track known as “Too Tough to Tame” for a total of 500 miles.

Coverage of Sunday’s race airs on NBCSN and the NBC Sports App beginning at 6:00 pm ET. The green flag is expected to drop at 6:20 pm ET.
