Kyle Busch wins Gander Outdoors 400, NASCAR at Pocono results

Kyle Busch won Sunday’s running of the Gander Outdoors 400 at Pocono Raceway.

The day began with the cars of Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch towards the back of the field after both teams failed inspection following qualifying. This allowed Chase Elliott to claim the win in segment one as both cars worked their way up though the field.

Harvick would claim segment two setting the stage for the final 60 laps of the race. A blown tire on the car of Brad Keselowski would alter the race as Harvick was hit by teammate Aric Almirola exiting the pits. This resulted in Harvick returning to the pits so the crew could check on it.

This allowed Busch to pull away from the field as Joey Logano was forced to the pits after making contact with Kyle Larson. With six laps to go Bubba Wallace slammed into the outside wall in turn one. He briefly sat next to his car before entering an ambulance. The wreck resulted in the red flag being displayed.

With three to go Busch would lead them to the restart before a spinning Almirola would bring out yet another caution to force overtime as Harvick climbed up to sixth spot. As the race restarted Suarez appeared to have a chance at Busch before Erik Jones got along side him allowing Busch to pull away.

The win is the sixth of the season for Busch and the 49th in his career at the Cup Series level. On Saturday he tied Ron Hornaday with the most wins in the history of the Camping World Truck Series with 51.

There are five races before the NASCAR playoffs begin.
