Third place run by Alex Bowman enhances his playoff chances

Alex Bowman saw his playoff chances increase after a surprising third place finish at Pocono Raceway on Sunday. Driving a car in the color of the Philadelphia Eagles, Bowman gave Hendrick Motorsports fans something to get excited about.

Bowman’s No. 88 Axalta Chevrolet was able to sneak by Erik Jones and a few others late in the Gander Outdoors 400 which saw Kyle Busch go to victory lane after starting 28th.

With the strong finish and a 22nd place run by Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Bowman is now 56 points ahead of the final cut off spot for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series playoffs.

The 56 point cushion is more than a race for Bowman who is one of a handful of drivers who are hopeful of making the playoffs without a win.
