NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Martin Truex Jr. will miss practice and qualifying sessions at Michigan International Speedway this weekend.
Truex’s longtime girlfriend Sherry Pollex was recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
Filling in for Truex during practice and qualifying will be reigning Camping World Truck Series champion Matt Crafton. Truex will drive in Sunday’s Pure Michigan 400.
“Everyone at Furniture Row Racing extends their thoughts and prayers to Sherry during her treatment and recovery period,” said Joe Garone, Furniture Row Racing General Manager. “She is a devoted supporter of our race team and we can’t wait for her return to the track.”
In 22 starts this season Truex has three finishes inside the top ten. He is coming off a 13th place finish at Watkins Glen.
