Ryan Newman and Michael McDowell were two cars who received severe damage in a crash on lap 57 at Watkins Glen International on Sunday during the running of the Cheez-It 355.
Newman’s car made contact with the back of Greg Biffle’s and hit a wall and tire barrier between turns five and six. Once the No. 31 car came back across the track it was hit by McDowell’s No. 95 Ford Fusion sending his suspensio parts into and over a catchfence.
Both drivers were able to leave their car. NASCAR would display the red flag.
Danica Patrick and David Ragan also received damage as a result of the accident.
