After crashing out of Friday nights NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Phoenix International Raceway Ron Hornaday confirmed rumors that he would not be driving the No. 9 Chevrolet Silverado at Homestead.
Hornaday was making his 43rd start in the No. 9 truck on Friday night. Next weekend at Homestad he will drive a truck for Turner Scott Motorsports.
It has been a rough two years for Hornaday since Kevin Harvick Inc closed at the end of the 2011 season. Hornaday has scored just six finished inside the top five since moving to the No. 9 truck. Hornaday’s 17 top tens in his last season with KHI are two more then he has in the two seasons since.
Entering Friday’s race at Phoenix the veteran Hornaday was 11th in the truck series point standings. He also was recently involved in a crash with Brennan Newberry at Las Vegas. Newberry is the son of team owner Bob Newberry.
