Jeb Burton won the WinStar World Casino 400k from Texas Motor Speedway on Friday night. It is the first career win in the Camping World Truck Series for Burton.
All three of NASCAR’s top series are at different tracks this weekend which allowed the trucks to race as the Cup Series was rained out at Pocono.
Johnny Sauter won both races at Texas last year and started on the pole Friday night. The first caution came out when Chad Hackenbracht got lose and lost control of his No. 51 truck. Hackenbracht making his series debut was driving the truck which had won the last two races for Kyle Busch Motorsports.
On lap 53 another KBM truck would crash when Joey Coulter found the wall in a single truck accident. Brendan Gaughan seized the lead and Texas native David Starr even led the field shortly after 100 of the 167 laps were run before pitting and giving the lead back to Gaughan.
Jeb Burton would take the lead on lap 143 as he got around Ty Dillon but Dillon would keep Burton in his sights. Burton was able to edge Dillon by a truck length to claim his first NCWTS win.
Burton joins Clint Bowyer, Travis Kvapil and Brenden Gaughan as firs time winners at Texas.
