Video: Jeff Gordon loses tire, takes out Matt Kenseth at Bristol

Matt Kenseth can not seem to get a break at Bristol. Last year Kenseth was racing with Tony Stewart when the two crashed, resulting in a helmet toss. This year it was the No. 24 of Jeff Gordon losing a tire that resulted in Kenseth’s car receiving severe damage.

Gordon was leading the Food City 500 when his car lost a right front tire and drove up the track hitting the wall. Kenseth’s car was running at full speed when the No. 24 car entered his lane. The result was two contenders ending up with destroyed race cars.

“It’s not a lot either one of us can do about that” Kenseth said after the accident. “No where to go.”

When NASCAR introduced the new Generation Six car they announced that the front and rear bumpers of the cars of the cars would not line up. This was designed to prevent bump drafting at Daytona and Talladega but resulted in a little air in this instance and contributed to a little additional cosmetic damage to the No. 20 car.
