Jimmie Johnson won five championships with the home improvement chain Lowes on his Hendrick powered No.48 `Chevrolet. That combination will not part ways after the 2013 season.

Speaking at the unveiling of the 2014 Chevrolet SS team owner Rick Hendrick made it clear that Lowes will continue to sponsor Johnson in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

“Lowe’s will be back,” Hendrick said emphatically. “I don’t know where that came from, but they’ll be back. Wishful thinking, maybe, by some of the other folks, but they’ll be back.”

Lowe’s and Hendrick haven’t signed a deal yet, but the car owner is confident he has a commitment from the home improvement retailer. “We’ve got a verbal,” Hendrick said. “We’ll button it up, but it’s early.”

Johnson has won 60 Sprint Cup races in his twelve year tenure in the series. Lowes has been there since the beginning and that will continue past this season.
