Norm Benning penalties from Talladega upheld

Norm Benning was penalized after he failed opening -day inspection in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at Talladega Superspeedway on Thursday, Oct 4.

The penalties concern Sections 12-1: (Actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4J: (Any determination by NASCAR officials that race equipment used in the event does not conform to NASCAR rules detailed in Section 20B of the NASCAR Rule Book, or has not been approved by NASCAR prior to the event); and 20B-2.3A (Any weight added to the truck must be bolted inside the body shell in an approved weight container and in a position acceptable to NASCAR officials – improperly attached weight to the truck bed cover) of the 2012 NASCAR Rule Book.

The team appealed the penalties and the results were released today.

Crew chief Ted Walters was suspended until Dec 31, and that penalty was upheld, but they did reduce his fine from $5,000 to $1,000.
