WWE’s John Cena to be honory starter for Daytona 500

With a large portion of their demographics overlapping it should come as no surprise that WWE wrestler John Cena will wave the green flag for the 54th running of the Daytona 500.

An official invitation was delivered by NASCAR star (and friend) Carl Edwards on Monday’s episode of WWE Raw.

“John Cena is the greatest Superstar in WWE today,” Daytona International Speedway President Joie Chitwood III said in a release.  “We look forward to seeing him on the flag stand waving the green flag to start ‘The Great American Race’ and kick off the new NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season.” (yahoo.com)

Earlier this week it was announced that actors for the upcoming Three Stooges movie would give the command for the drivers to start their engines. Last year’s Daytona 500 was won by Trevor Bayne.
