Colton Herta caps fast weekend with first win in 41 races, Toronto Results

Colton Herta scored his first win in 41 races capping a weekend in which the No. 26 Honda was the fastest car on the streets of Toronto.

After numerous chances to win races, Herta finally avoided all the race gremlins scoring Andretti Global’s first win of the season. With the win Herta made IndyCar history by being the first driver to win every session in a weekend.

Herta began the day on the pole but a first lap incident would see Christian Rasmussen knocked from the race while Santino Ferrucci would need a nose replaced.

Agustin Canapino would make contact with the right real of Scott Dixon on lap five sending himself into the wall and ending his day.


By lap 16 Sting Ray Robb would pull into the pits with mechanical issues. Scott McLaughlin would pit first after starting on used alternative tires. The remaining drivers on alternates would cycle in during the following laps.

Josef Newgarden’s day went awry on lap 54 when he had to back up to secure a rear tire during a pit stop. Laps later Theo Pourchaire and Linus Lundqvist would come together but a caution was avoided.

With 17 laps to go Kyffin Simpson would hit a tire barrier to bring out a caution.

Pato O’Ward  would spin out with 12 laps to go with Marcus Ericsson making contact with him while the cars of Pietro Pittaipaldi, Nolan Siegel would make contact prior to Ferrucci clipping O’Ward’s car and going airborne.

On the restart Will Power would make contact with McLaughlin resulting in another caution while ending the day for McLaughlin. Power would be given a drive though penalty as the multiple incidents allowed Alex Palou who started 18th to finish fourth extending his points lead over Power in the process.
