Bruce Irvin would take discount to return to Seahawks

Bruce Irvin is set to become a free agent but the linebacker would welcome a return to the Seahawks, the team which drafted him.

According to the Seattle Times, Irvin may take $3-5 million less over the course of his next deal to return to the Seahawks.

“I’m not asking for $100 million,’’ Irvin was quoted as saying. “I’m not asking for nothing crazy. I just want to be appreciated. But everything will work itself out.’’

The Seahawks declined his fifth-year option on his rookie deal but Irvin is not quite ready to rule anyone out as he hits the free market. Many are already linking Irvin to the Falcons who hired former Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.

The 28-year-old Irvin recorded 5.5 sacks last season and was in on 38 tackles. For his career he has 21.5 sacks across four seasons.
