Few players in the NFL have the breakout speed possessed by Denard Robinson but last season the player who has earned the nickname Shoelace got only 20 carries for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

That figures to change this season with offensive coordinator Jeff Fisch telling the Florida Times Union that Robinson will be a weekly part of the Jaguars gameplan.

“I hope so,” Fisch said. “My plan is for that to be the case. We’re certainly expecting him to.”

Robinson is listed at No. 2 on the depth chart at running back ahead of Jordan Todman. While Toby Gerhart has been talked about being a three down back there still could be some touches for Robinson early on though probably not enough to make him a viable fantasy option right now.

“I think Denard is getting more confident, more comfortable with the ball and holding onto the football,” Fisch said. “His ball security has improved. He’s catching the ball better. With that, I think he’s playing at a confident, higher level.”
