“This is about football. We evaluated him as a football player and felt like he could help us as a football player.” Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said about the teams decision to sign Michael Sam to their practice squad.
Well football and money have met. The Cowboys will indeed sell Michael Sam jerseys though you way want to wait to buy one.
Sam suited up wearing a No. 46 jersey in Wednesday’s practice. NFL rules require defensive linemen to wear jersey’s between 50-79 or 90-99. The No. 4 would be reserved for running backs, full backs and defensive backs.
The Cowboys don't normally sell jersey's of practice squad players available at the pro shop. But per a source, they will do so with Sam

So Sam will need to change his number again at some point. Given that jersey sales rivaled those of Johnny Manziel following the NFL Draft, we can expect Sam to again be a big seller. Perhaps big enough to pay for his practice squad salary.
After-all making money is part of football right?
