Crafton will race in place of Tifft

Matt Crafton will race the No. 36 Ford Mustang of Front Row Motorsports in Sunday’s First Data 500 at Martinsville Speedway.

On Saturday the normal driver of that car, Matt Tifft was taken to an area hospital after a trip to the infield care center. Crafton practiced and qualified the car.

Tifft, who is competing for Rookie of the Year honors, shared news of his condition on Saturday night via Twitter.

Hey everybody. Just wanted to give a quick update. Still learning more of what exactly happened, but as some of you saw/ heard I had to be taken to the hospital this am. I am resting at home now and have follow ups soon, 🤞to get back to full health and back in the car soon

Crafton qualified 31st in Saturday’s qualifying session.
