Austin Theriault not cleared to race at Kansas, Garrett Smithley filling in

On Thursday NASCAR driver Austin Theriault revealed he would not be racing at Kansas Speedway.

Theriault has not been medically cleared to race following a crash on Monday in the 1000Bulbs.com 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. Garrett Smithley will assume the seat of the Rick Ware Racing car which Theriault was scheduled to drive.

In five Cup Series starts this season Theriault has a best finish of 32nd.
