Natalie Decker scores 22nd place finish in Texas

Natalie Decker drove her No. 54 Toyota Tundra to a 22nd place finish in Friday night’s SpeedyCash.com 400 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Decker began the race in last, 32nd place after scraping the wall on her qualifying run. By the 60th lap of the race she had worked up to the 19th position thanks in part to some cautions involving other trucks.

After a wreck involving polesitter Todd Gilliland, Decker moved up to 14th with 12 laps to go in the second stage. Decker fell back to 20th early in the third stage. With 72 laps to go in the race Decker was involved in bringing out a then record 11th caution after Spencer Boyd made contact with Decker. The No. 54 truck would hit the inside wall while Trey Hutchens would run into Boyd.

The accident ended Decker’s night. She has now been involved in four crashes in seven truck series starts including her last three.

With seven starts in the truck series the best finish for Decker is a 13th at Las Vegas.
