Xfinity Series: Morgan Shepherd driving gold car at Daytona

At 76 years of age Morgan Shepherd is looking to compete in the PowerShares QQQ 300. The NASCAR Xfinity Series race held on Saturday has 46 drivers entered, and one of them is the aforementioned Shepherd.

Shepherd is listed as the driver for his No. 89 Chevrolet with Visone RV listed as a sponsor. Judging from this photo that popped up on social media on Tuesday he will be driving a gold color car.

When it comes to records and age, many are already owned by Shepherd. At Darlington last year he become the oldest driver to lead an Xfinity Series race at 75 years of age. He was the oldest driver to start a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race when he started the July 2014 race at New Hampshire at 72.

Shepherd competed in 19 races last season in the Xfinity Series and failed to qualify for eight others. His best finish was a 32nd place finish at Dover.
