Chase Elliott gets a number change for the 2018 season moving to the No. 9 Chevrolet at Hendrick Motorsports. The move puts William Byron in the No. 24 and reunites Elliott with the No. 9 which he drove in the Xfinity Series.

The No. 9 has a history not just for Chase but for the family as his father Bill Elliott drove the number during much of his NASCAR Cup Series career.

Longtime sponsor NAPA follows Elliott to the No. 9 car as does Hooters.

The 2018 season will mark Elliott’s third full year at the Cup level. While Elliott has yet to find victory lane, he did set career highs with 12 top-5’s and 21 top-10’s last season while finishing fifth in the point standings.

It seems to be a matter of when, not if, Elliott will find his first career win.

As a youngster in the Xfinity Seires, Elliott won four races during his two fill time seasons there en-route to a series championship (2015) and a second place finish (2016).
