All NASCAR tracks ask fans to not bring Confederate flag to races

This weekend at Daytona International Speedway fans can turn in their Confederate flags for a flag of the United States.

It’s not just Daytona who does not want the Confederate flag flown at its televised races this weekend, all of the tracks on the NASCAR schedule have jointly signed a statement in which it proclaims a desire to be “welcoming environments in all of sports and entertainment.”

NASCAR Chairman Brian France has called the flag a symbol he personally finds offensive and said he wants to be as aggressive as possible in barring it from sanctioned events. NASCAR’s most popular driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr., has already stated that he finds the flag offensive as well.
