Greg Biffle made contact with the left rear of Jimmie Johnson’s No. 48 on lap 85 knocking the six-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion from the race at Kansas.

While Biffle was able to bring his car to pit road for minor repairs, the car of Johnson was severely damaged forcing him to take it behind the wall. Johnson’s team will attempt to repair his Lowes Chevrolet and produce some points.

The next race on the schedule is Charlotte, a track that Johnson has seven career wins at. Talladega Superspeedway will be the third and final race of the Contender round where the number of championship eligible drivers drop from 12 to 8.
