Ryan Blaney to drive for Wood Brothers in 2015 under new Penske partnership

The Wood Brothers have formed a new alliance with Team Penske which will begin in 2015. Under terms of the new deal Penske driver Ryan Blaney will drive the No. 21 Wood Brothers Ford Fusion part-time in the Sprint Cup Series.

Blaney, 20, has been signed to a developmental deal with Penske since 2012. He will compete in at least 12 races for the Wood Brothers in 2015 replacing Trevor Bayne who leaves for a full-time job behind the wheel of the No. 6 Ford at Roush Fenway Racing.

With Bayne competiting at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend it will be Blaney who practices and qualifies the No. 21 car for the Sprint Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway.

Blaney’s first race for the Wood Brothers at the Cup level will be in the 2015 Daytona 500.He will race for the team in events at Daytona, Las Vegas, Texas, Talladega, Charlotte, Michigan and Indianapolis, among others.

Earlier this season Blaney made his Cup debut with Penske earning a 27th place finish at Kansas. He will also run a full Nationwide Series schedule in 2015.
