When Dale Earnhardt Jr. is not racing around the track, he can sometimes be found on eBay.

It’s no secret that Earnhardt Jr. is an avid collector of NASCAR history and part of what has assisted him in forming a collection of full size cars, die-cast and vintage programs is eBay.

”It’s something I like doing, done it for years,” he said.

In fact Earnhardt Jr. compares the experience to getting behind the wheel of his No. 88 Chevrolet SS.

”Yeah, it’s like racing, you just have to move on if you lose,” he said. ”But you feel good when you pick up something that’s cool.”

Earnhardt Jr. and eBay Motors are joining forces in the Garage for Good campaign. Earnhardt will drive his No. 88 Nationwide Series car with eBay on it at Michigan International Speedway. For each new user registered eBay will donate $1 to the Dale Jr. Foundation, up to $25,000.

Fans who sign up for a eBay Garage profile before June 30 will be also be entered in a sweepstakes to win a 2014 Chevy Camaro. Earnhardt Jr. will also be delivering the keys for said car.

“As most people are aware, I’ve been obsessed with eBay for the past few years because I do a lot of shopping for vintage racing stuff,” Earnhardt said. “It’s a great place to find all the things you need and love. And eBay Garage is especially cool because it’s an online community for car enthusiasts. I have a profile set up already so you can see what’s in my garage. I’m looking forward to seeing what other people have in theirs.”

Earnhardt Jr. won the season opening Daytona 500 which all but guarantees him a spot in the Chase – NASCAR’s version of a playoff.
