The NASCAR Sprint Cup series Chase starts this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, IL with the running of the Geico 400. Only 12 drivers have the chance at the points they earn counting towards the Championship, but that does not mean there will not be 31 other drivers looking to take home the win.

Below we have compiled five drivers to watch for this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway.

1. Jimmie Johnson

Johnson sports a cool 9.3 average finish at Chicagoland, with nine top tens in eleven starts. Johnson hasn’t been to victory lane to show off his hard work-but he is certainly a driver to watch this weekend as he makes a bid for his sixth NASCAR Championship.

2. Clint Bowyer

Bowyer owns a 10.1 average finish, he has six top tens in seven starts at the 1.5 mile track. If you crunch Bowyer’s numbers to look at the last four races, his average finish is only 6.0 – putting him only behind Tony Stewart, Johnson and Kasey Kahne.  Bowyer does not have a win at the track, could this weekend be lucky for him?

3. Kasey Kahne

Over the last four races at the track Kasey has a 6.0 average finish, earning three top tens in four races. Kahne could certainly wind up in victory lane, or at the least with a solid finish inside the top five.

4. Carl Edwards

Edwards’s best finish at Chicagoland was second in 2010 , his all-time average finish is 16.6 (in eight series races), but over the past four races, Edwards owns a 9.8 average finish. Edwards finished off the regular season strong with a win at Richmond, and has all the momentum going into the race this weekend at Chicagoland.

5. Jeff Gordon

Gordon is worth watching this week. Gordon is now the 13th driver in the Chase. Gordon has a 12.1 average finish over 12 races, with seven of those finishes being in the top ten. He won at Chicagoland in 2006.
