Joey Logano won Sunday’s Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway. Logano, who started
on the pole captured his first win of the season and third career win.
It was also Logano’s first win in the No. 22 Penske Racing Ford.
Mark Martin ran out of gas with three laps to go, after he decided not to pit on a late race pit strgedy to try and get a win for the No. 55 team.
Kevin Harvick, who was chasing Logano behind Martin finished second, Kurt Busch finished third, Paul Menard fourth and Clint Bowyer fifth.
Fourty-three cars took the green flag at the 2-mile track located in the Irish Hills of Brooklyn, MI, but only one emerged the winner of the 200 lap race.
June race winner, Greg Biffle finished the race in the 9th position. Jimmie Johnson started the race at the back of the pack after crashing his car in happy hour practice on Saturday. Johnson’s day only got worse when he lost his engine early in the race. He finished the race in the 40th position.
