Cole Whitt will return to the Nationwide Series at Dover International Speedway during the 5-Hour Energy 200. Whitt will drive the No. 44 car of TriStar Motorsports in his first race of the 2013 season.

Most recently Whitt drove for JR Motorsports. Last season Whitt ran the entire Nationwide Series schedule and finished seventh in the series driver standings. In his 33 starts he managed four finishes inside the top-5 and a total of 14 inside the top-10.

“I’m really excited to hop back in the seat of a race car; it feels like forever since last season,” said Whitt. “I’ve had success in my four starts at Dover and look forward to taking on ‘Miles the Monster’. I am grateful for the opportunity Mark (Smith) and TriStar have lined up for me and I hope to have success with the #44 crew.”

Whitt had been working as a mechanic in the teams research and development department.
