With 34 laps to go in the STP Gas Booster 500 there was contact between Danica Patrick and Dale Earnhardt Jr, thanks to a bump by Brian Vickers.
Vickers bumped the No. 10 car of Patrick which then made contact with Earnhardt’s No. 88 car sending him into a spin in turn 3.
As Earnhardt waited to turn his car around he was passed by teammate Jimmie Johnson sending him a lap down. Earnhardt entered the race at Martinsville leading the points.
