Denny Hamlin apologized on Friday for bumping former teammate Joey Logano in last weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway. After the race the two drivers had a war of words on twitter but did not speak to each other via any other means.

On lap 349 Hamlin bumped the No. 22 car driven by Logano sending it into a spin thus ruining his chances of a race win.

Hamlin says he never intended to damage the car driven by Logano and also felt bad about his post race comments which took a shot at the driving ability of Logano.

“At the end of the race I shouldn’t have degraded him as a driver,” Hamlin said in an interview with ESPN. “It’s not my job to say who’s good or bad in our sport. That part probably should have been left out.’

Hamlin had voiced to Logano after the incident that he could call him if he wanted to talk about what happened. However, since Logano has not contacted Hamlin the driver of the No. 11 Toyota assumes that the incident is behind them.
