Tony Stewart was able to squeak to victory in the NASCAR Nationwide Series season opener. The win was his fifth in six years but the celebration was muted as a crash coming to the line sent car parts into the grandstands.

Regan Smith was leading the race when he was turned by Brad Keselowski. A chain of events then occurred that resulted in the No. 32 of Kyle Larson piercing the catch fence. The engine for Larson’s car ended up on the spectators side of the fence.

Thus far no information has been released by NASCAR or Daytona International Speedway in regards to injuries.
