James Buescher takes over truck series points lead

Last season James Buescher finished second in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series standings. Buescher narrowly missed out on capturing his first NASCAR championship when he finished behind Austin Dillion. This season Buescher is trying to become the champion of the series.

Following the Matinsville race Buescher overtook another Dillon for the series points lead. Ty Dillon, the younger brother of Austin,  entered the Martinsville weekend with a one point lead over Buescher. With less then fifty laps remaining in the race Dillon blew a tire and then broke a sway bar. Those events caused him to finish multiple laps down in 28th position.

Buescher finished 6th on the day which gives him  a 21 point lead in the overall standings. There are three races remaining on the schedule for the truck series. Next week the the trucks will race at Texas before finishing out the season at Phoenix and Homestead.

This weekend serves as a reminder that a massive points swing can happen at any moment.
