The familiar voice of Dick Berggren reporting from pit road will be no more following Sunday’s race at Dover. Bergrenn began his career 31 years ago at Dover along side Mike Joy. The two will both be around for the last NASCAR race on FOX this season.

Berggren is known affectionately as “Dr. Dirt” and could be spotted by his trademark hat.

While he will no longer report from pit road the now 70 year-old plans to continue his role as a publisher/editor at Speedway Illustrated magazine. Berggren also has plans to open up a museum to celebrate racing in the north east. The plans are to create it in conjunction with New Hampshire motor spoeedway.
