The significance of an alliance of Rusty Wallace Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing extends beyond the recent agreement the two sides have come to. Recently it was announced that JGR would provide RWR with technical support for the development of Toyota Camry’s to be run on the Nationwide Series.
In the last two Nationwide Series seasons Rusty Wallace Racing has field a pair of Chevy Impalas but will switch to the Toyota Camry.
Rusty Wallace Racing now gets a “major league organization” to back it, much the same way that JR Motorsports is ran.
The alliance of these two teams brings questions to mind.
Is Rusty Wallace Racing going to act as a farm system for Joe Gibbs Racing? Could Rusty Wallace Racing be targeting a future at the Sprint Cup level? Is this some kind of way to eventually transfer Steven Wallace over to Joe Gibbs racing next season in a full time ride?
Like all transactions the immediate response isn’t always the one that mean the most. Something tells me by midway into the 2010 season we’ll know in which direction both of these organizations are moving.
Steven has little talant, if Rusty would remove him from the drivers seat the team might survive. There are so many other drivers with super talant out there. There most likely is another Kyle Bush just waiting for this ride. wake up Rusty, he maybe your son, but not every Good race car driver begets a GOOD race car driver…………….
