Packers backup QB seeking starting job in free agency

Scott Tolzien is set to become a free agent and the backup to Aron Rodgers believes he has the skill-set to start in the NFL.

Tolzien, 28, made a few starts back in 2013 but was not very good. With Brett Hundley ready to take over clipboard duties in Green Bay the former Wisconsin starter will have to continue his career elsewhere.

“I feel like I’ve improved every year and played for two great organizations,” Tolzien said via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “I know there’s been a lot of backups in Green Bay that have gone on and been given the chance to start in other places. We’ll see what happens, but that would be great if it happened.”

It is hard to imagine anyone turning over starting duties to Tolzien for the 2016 season but perhaps a desperate team will emerge and give him a chance to compete.
