The hamstring injury suffered by Jay Cutler win Week 2 will keep the Chicago Bears signal caller off of the field for at-least two weeks.

Cutler suffered a strained hamstring against the Arizona Cardinals while trying to make a tackle following an interception in the second quarter. Jimmy Clausen replaced him. The former Notre Dame star will now start for the Bears for the next two weeks according to ESPN’s Adam Scheftler.

Bears coach Jon Fox did not offer a time table for Cutler’s return nor did he say whether or not the team would sign another quarterback.

One option for the Bears would be to promote David Fales from the practice squad. The 2014 sixth-round pick has yet to appear in a regular season game. Fales was on the Bears 53-man roster before Week 1 but was inactive. He spent four weeks on the Bears roster last year.

“As I mentioned yesterday,” Fox said, “considering the circumstances and his preparation reps and getting ready to play Arizona, most backups are not getting all those reps regardless of the position. I think at the quarterback position it’s a little tougher because you have to be in tune to everybody else completely. But I think all in all, [Clausen] did OK.”

Clausen was 14-of-23 for 121 yards and an interception in what proved to be a 48-23 loss.
