Colts working on massive extension for Andrew Luck

The Indianapolis Colts have begun to work on the outlines of a new deal for quarterback Andrew Luck.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter cites NFL sources saying that a new deal for Luck could make him the highest-paid player in the NFL. Luck could command a salary of $25 million per season under terms of his future deal.

Luck and the Colts have had ongoing talks but nothing can become finalized until March 10 when the new league year begins.

Given the success that Luck and the Colts have had together it should be expected that a new deal gets worked out. The Colts were fortunate to have Luck fall into their lap and could not have asked for a better player to take over for Peyton Manning at the position.

Luck is coming off a season in which he threw for 4761 yards and an NFL high 40 touchdowns. Luck threw 16 interceptions this past season while committing eight fumbles.
