The Detroit Lions have signed veteran quarterback Dan Orlovsky to a one-year contract.

Murmurs of the 30-year-old’s return to Detroit began this week. With the Lions he will be listed as the teams No. 2 quarterback after the team failed to re-sign Shaun Hill.

In addition to his time with the Lions, Orlovsky is familiar with new coach Jim Caldwell who he started five games for while both were with the Indianapolis Colts.

And of course he committed some of the most memorable plays in NFL history when he took a safety for no reason during an NFL game making one of the more memorable 30 For 30 Fakes ever.

A backup in Tampa Bay the last two seasons, Orlovsky has appeared in 21 games during his NFL career which dates back to 2005. During that span he has completed 58.5-percent of his passes for 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
