Steelers add receiver depth by signing Darrius Heyward-Bey

On Wednesday the Pittsburgh Steelers added wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey on a one-year contract.

Heyward-Bey underwhelmed with the Indianapolis Colts last season as they entrusted him with a starting role opposite of Reggie Wayne. He and was finally benched playing only 32 snaps over the teams final four games.

Overall he caught 29 passes for 309 yards and one score in 2013 but also dropped nine passes. He will complete for a roster spot with the Steelers.

For his career, Heyward-Bey has appeared in 72 regular-season games and made 64 starts. In his five NFL seasons, he has recorded 169 receptions for 2,380 yards and 12 touchdowns.

The Steelers are expected to use Antonio Brown and Markus Wheaton as their starters but have also added former New Orleans Saints receiver Lance Moore as depth.
