Zoltan Mesko was cut on Saturday by the New England Patriots as the team opted to go with undrafted rookie Ryan Allen for the punting position.

While Mesko had a down season, his $1.323 salary compared to Allen’s $405,000 also played a large factor in his release.

It did not take Mesko long to find another team. The Pittsburgh Steelers singed the 27-year-old punter while cutting ties with Drew Butler.

Butler served as the Steelers punter in 2012 making 77 punts for a 43.8 average. Mesko spent the last three seasons with the Patriots making 175 punts for a 44.2 average while often being credited for pinning opposing offenses back near their own goal line.
