New England Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez was handcuffed, and taken into police custody this morning according to multiple sources.

Ten to twelve police officers pulled up to Hernandez’s house in Attleboro, Mass around 8:45 a.m. Police knocked on the door where Hernandez looked surprised when police told him he was being taken into custody. Hernandez, who was wearing a white t-shirt and baggy shorts, was placed in handcuffs and led to a police vehicle.

Hernandez’s charge has not yet been released, but previous reports say he could be charged with “obstruction of justice.”

Hernandez allegedly destroyed his cell phone and home security system in the hours following the murder of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd. Surveillance video showed Hernandez and Lloyd together hours before the murder.

It has been a full week since police confirmed that Hernandez has not been ruled out as a suspect. Last Thursday, reports effaced saying that Hernandez was “directly linked to the homocide.

Friday there were reports that an arrest warrant had been issued, but that was later found to be untrue. Also, Cytosport, the makers of Muscle Milk ended Hernandez’s endorsement.

Once Hernandez is arrested and charged, his legal team will jump into action. According to ESPN, defense attorney Jamie Sultan and Hernandez met in Hernandez’s home for about 40 minutes Tuesday.
