Brendan Gaughan will compete in four races during the No. 2020 season and then step away from NASCAR.

Gaughan will compete in four races (two at Daytona and two at Talladega) for Beard Motorsports before retiring.

The 44-year-old detailed his plans to leave before the Gen-7 chassis is released in 2021 while appearing on SiriusXM NAScAR Radio.

“I’ll be back at Daytona for sure, and try to run all four for them (Beard Motorsports). They’re great people, I love them to death. I don’t plan on going to the new car. I’ll probably do those four restrictor plate races for them, and then they’re going to have to find someone a little bit younger and a little more spry to put in their race car.”

Gaughan had driven for Beard Motorsports in races at Daytona and Talladega since 2017.
