Rain hampers NASCAR race at Chicagoland

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Chicagoland is on hold after lighting and rain hit the Joliet area.

NASCAR officials moved the start of the Camping World 400 up by 14 minutes to 3:02 pm ET in hopes of beating the rain. After 11 laps cars were pulled into pit road with the red flag out.

Looking at the radar it’s questionable as to when NASCAR will be able to restart the event. Indications are it could rain up til 7 pm ET with up to 90 minutes to dry track.

If the race cannot be resumed on Sunday it will be run at 3 pm ET on Monday. Jimmie Johnson is the leader.
