Jimmie Johnson will be driving a red car during Sunday’s AAA 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.
Johnson’s car which traditionally has been blue and white will feature red this week at the 1,5-mile track located in Fort Worth as a nod to the employees of Lowe’s who wear red vests.
“I know what the red vest means to everyone at Lowe’s. That’s why I’m proud to have red on my car at Texas,” Johnson said. “I want to show Lowe’s 260,000 employees that this is for them. It takes a team to run a race like this one, and it takes a team at Lowe’s, day in and day out, to win.

Along with some Lowe’s employees, Johnson unveiled the car a week ago.
“I’m proud to represent Lowe’s. I’ve been, for the past 13 years, proud to have won races and championships with the pagoda on the hood and certainly representing the company like we do week in and week out. It’s like family.”
Now out of the Chase, Johnson has struggled in the last four races this season posting finishes of 17th or worst.

During the spring race at Texas he finished 25th but prior to that he had won two of the previous three events at Texas. Overall he has three wins in 22 starts along with 16 finishes inside the top-10.
“If I do my job and get this car into Victory Lane, we’ll all have a reason to celebrate.” said Johnson.
