NASCAR has announced that there will be special paint schemes for drivers who are competing in the NASCAR Chase.

The intention, according to NASCAR, is to celebrate the drivers competing for the season ending championship. The special schemes which include a yellow roof number, a yellow splitter and a yellow background to the drivers name on the windshield will also be accompanied by a special Sprint logo on the side of the car.

NASCAR will unveil these paint schemes at the Chase opening race at Chicagoland. Once a driver is eliminated from Chase contention their car will revert back to its normal paint scheme.

A victory in the first 26 races all but guarantees a berth in the 10-race Chase, which will air exclusively on the ESPN family of networks.

The number of championship drivers in contention for the championship decreases after every three Chase races, culminating with four drivers racing for the title at Homestead-Miami Speedway in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship, scheduled for November 16.
